Fields That Might Already Be in Your Document

You've come across several field codes already, although you may not have realized it. When you place the date, time, or page number in a header or footer, and instruct Word to updated it automatically, Word places a { DATE }, { TIME }, or { PAGE } field code rather than text in the document. Whenever you update your fields, Word then checks your computer's built-in clock and updates the date and time to reflect what it finds there.
