Building Hyperlinks

As I mentioned earlier, hyperlinks are primarily composed of two parts: the display text (on which you actually click) and the network address or URL (Uniform Resource Locator, just fancy jargon for an Internet address).

Word offers several ways to build a hyperlink. Follow these steps to insert a hyperlink into a Word document.

  1. In a blank Word document, type the following: More information can be found at Microsoft's Web site.

  2. Use your mouse to select the words "Microsoft's Web site". This will be the display text for your hyperlink.

  3. To build the hyperlink choose from any of these options:
