Project: Setting Up Pages for a Book

Assembling a book requires that you use many of the page setup and header/footer skills you've learned in this chapter. This project walks you through a simple book project, showing you how to set up book pages for professional printing. To do this, you will set up a template with two blank pages and apply different header settings to each page. You can then use this template for book documents with different odd and even headers.

Step #1: Make sure you understand the dimensions you need to establish for your pages.

This example uses the following margins:

  • Page size: 7″ × 9 1/4″

  • Margins:

    • 3/4″ left and right (outside)

    • 1″ left and right inside (including extra 0.25″ gutter)

    • 1″ top and bottom

    • Headers and footers 0.5″ ...
