Using Dial-Up Networking

Just as you can connect to shared resources on a network using a network interface card and network wiring, you can connect to the same kind of resources using a modem and telephone wires. This type of networking is called Dial-Up Networking. Dial-Up Networking is discussed in Chapter 8, "Special Features for Notebook Users," as this feature will be of most interest to laptop and notebook PC users. However, if you want to configure Dial-Up Networking to work on your desktop computer, all of the procedures are the same.
