Sharing a Workstation's Fax Modem

Windows 95 incorporates fax services into the operating system using its Microsoft Exchange front end. Users can fax documents directly using the File, Print command of any application or the File, Send command of any application that uses the messaging application programming interface (MAPI). When both sender and recipient are using the Microsoft At Work binary file transfer protocol, you can even edit the faxed documents.

Windows 95 also can share the use of a workstation's fax modem, just as easily as it can share a drive or a printer. The workstation essentially becomes a fax server, enabling multiple network users to submit documents to its queue for sequential servicing by the modem.
