Balancing the Load

The overall performance of a workstation may degrade significantly if a large number of other users continually access its resources. On a peer network, therefore, the best arrangement is to spread the shared resources of the workgroup evenly among the workstations.

To achieve this balance, you may need to store a shared application on a different computer than its data files, or you may need to distribute files of a similar type among several machines. You also should spread hardware around the workgroup.
