Using Domains

On a network that uses Windows NT as its network operating system, users are probably already using a domain login to gain access to client/server network resources. A domain is a logical grouping of computers that is entirely controlled and administered from a Windows NT server. Whereas share passwords in a workgroup are stored on the individual machines where the shares are located, passwords and all security information for domain users are stored on a server that has been designated a domain controller. In order for one workstation to access a drive on another workstation, both users must have valid accounts on the domain controlling server.
