Running Applications

After you install your application's and Windows'accessories, Windows 95 gives you many options for launching them. You can use any of the methods to run any application. The technique that you choose depends on your personal preferences, working style, and what you're doing at the time.

The various methods for launching applications are discussed in more detail in Chapter 10, "Navigating and Controlling Windows," and Chapter 12, "Managing Files with My Computer and Windows Explorer." The following is a summary of the techniques:

  • Choose the application's shortcut from the Start menu.

  • Create and use a shortcut on the desktop.

  • Right-click the application's icon in Windows Explorer or the My Computer window; then click Open in ...
