Introducing NetShow

Another new component of Internet Explorer 4.0 is NetShow, Microsoft's application for broadcasting multimedia content over the Internet and intranets. NetShow incorporates some exciting new technologies that take the broadcasting of rich multimedia presentations to a new level.

From the user's point of view, the most exciting development is the use of media streaming technology. Instead of having to first download a multimedia file before it can be played back, NetShow delivers a continuous stream of data that can be played back almost immediately.
