Improving Memory Use with Virtual Memory
Your computer has a certain amount of physical memory (RAM) installed. Typically, computers running Windows have at least 4M of RAM, and often 8M or more. The more memory you have, the more programs you can run at the same time and the faster your system operates. However, with Windows 95, you can use a special area of the hard disk as an extension of RAM, called virtual memory, to increase the amount of memory available to programs. Using virtual memory, you can run more programs at the same time than is normally possible using only the RAM on the system.
