Working with Compressed Files
File compression utilities make it possible to pack large files into small spaces. They also enable you to store large numbers of files in a single archive. Windows 95 users typically encounter compressed files in one of two formats:
Setup files for Windows 95 and other Microsoft products are stored in Cabinet format—you can recognize these files by the .Cab extension. Microsoft's Setup program processes cabinet files automatically, without requiring any utilities.
The Zip compression format is a widely used standard for distributing files over the Internet. Windows does not include support for Zip files.
