Upgrading from Windows 3.x

When Windows 95 was first released, the most common Setup option was upgrading to Windows 95 over an existing copy of Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11. Today, that option is increasingly less common. Most systems still using Windows 3.x consist of older hardware that is unsuited for use with Windows 95; it's more common for system buyers to replace old Windows 3.x systems with new hardware on which a copy of Windows 95 is already installed. Still, upgrading over Windows 3.x is possible, and, in fact, the Setup program makes the upgrade as simple as possible.
