Creating Crosstab Queries

Crosstab queries are summary queries that enable you to determine exactly how the summary data appears on-screen. Crosstab queries display summarized data in the traditional row-column form of spreadsheets. Crosstab queries use the Access SQL TRANSFORM keyword to indicate that the statements following the keyword are for a crosstab query. (TRANSFORM is not an ANSI SQL keyword.) With crosstab queries, you can perform the following processes:

  • Specify the field that creates labels (headings) for rows by using the Group By instruction.

  • Determine the field(s) that create(s) column headers and the criteria that determine the values appearing under the headers.
