TIP 1: Speak to serve.

Second only to managing fear, selecting a compelling topic is your biggest challenge. Even world champion Lance Miller (2005)* was not immune: “When I was trying to find messages to use as speech topics, I was so frustrated because nothing really bad had ever happened to me. I came from a good family; I had a good education; I had good jobs. Where is the inspiration in that?” Lance’s question reveals that purpose selection precedes topic selection.
