It’s unpleasant to be around someone who is, well, unpleasant. Going to work each day and dealing with surly coworkers and toxic people is stressful. These negative conversations can put you on edge and keep you from doing your best work. It’s not easy to deal with. In fact, we have so much difficulty handling negativity in ourselves and in others that we accept behavior that goes against our personal values.
