Chapter 13. Making the Top-Level Assembly Drawing

  • Update the Format of the BOM

  • Fill in the BOM

The top-level assembly drawing is usually one of the most important of all the drawings since it shows how the entire assembly is put together. Since the individual part drawings contain the dimensions required to make the individual components, most assembly drawings do not have dimensions unless they are required for the assembly process or are used for reference such as for the overall height and width of the assembly. It is also common to include additional information in the top-level assembly such as the process used for assembly, packaging, and storage.
