8.1 INTRODUCTION

This chapter takes the reader through a variety of topics related to the interpretation of spectra and the extraction of detailed information about the NMR interactions. The first section describes the analysis of one-dimensional spectra to obtain, for example, chemical shift information and so does not involve special experimental techniques. However, obtaining reliable estimates of other parameters, such as the strength of dipolar couplings, may require specialist experiments and/or analysis, so most of the rest of the chapter deals with somewhat more sophisticated aspects of solid-state NMR, especially involving tensors and their evaluation.
