halt, poweroff — Stop the Processor
Synopsis
/usr/sbin/halt [-dlnqy] /usr/sbin/poweroff [-dlnqy]
Description
Use the halt and poweroff commands to write out any pending information to the disks and then stop the processor. poweroff removes the machine's power if possible. |
halt and poweroff normally log the system shutdown to the system log daemon, syslogd(1M), and put a shutdown record in the /var/adm/wtmpx login accounting file (changed from wtmp in the Solaris 8 release). These actions are inhibited if you specify the -n or -q options.
Note
halt does not execute the rc0 scripts as do shutdown(1M) and init(1M).
