automountd — Mount/Unmount Daemon for autofs

Synopsis

/usr/lib/fs/autofs/automountd [-Tvn][-D name=value]

Description

The automountd daemon controls automounting activities. It is an RPC server that answers file-system mount and unmount requests from the autofs file system. automountd uses local files or nameservice maps to locate file systems to be mounted. These maps are described with the automount(1M) command.

The automountd daemon is automatically invoked in run level 2 from the /etc/rc2.d/S74autofs run control script.
