NETWORK ACCESS METHODS

As previously mentioned, a network is a collection of hosts connected to each other using some type of communication medium. This communication medium is shared by all hosts on a network to send and receive data. If multiple hosts start transmitting data on the communication medium, the signal will mix up, resulting in something not understandable by anyone. This is similar to a situation in which many people in a single room start speaking simultaneously without caring whether anyone else is also speaking.
