Verification of the Setup

The following sections describe some ways to verify that the system has been properly configured as an NIS+ client.

Verifying That the Cache Manager Is Running

Check to see whether nis_cachemgr is running. Type ps -ef | grep nis_cachemgr and press Return. In the following example, the cache manager is running on the system paperbark.

Checking the Contents of the /var/nis Directory

When an NIS+ client is set up properly, the /var/nis directory has one or more files. Type ls /var/nis and press Return. The contents of /var/nis should look like the following example.
