volcheck — Check for Media in a Drive

Synopsis

/usr/bin/volcheck [-v][-i secs][-t secs] pathname
					

Description

The volcheck command tells Volume Management to look at each dev/pathname in sequence and determine if new media has been inserted in the drive.

The default action is for volcheck to run on all checkable media managed by Volume Management.

Warning

Because of a hardware limitation in many diskette drives, checking for media results in mechanical action in the diskette drive. Continuous polling of the diskette drive wears out the drive. It is recommended that you poll the drive only during periods of high use.
