sortbib — Sort a Bibliographic Database

Synopsis

/usr/bin/sortbib [-s KEYS] database... 

Description

Use the sortbib command to sort files of records containing refer(1) key letters by keys you specify. Records can be separated by blank lines, or by .[ and .] delimiters, but the two styles cannot be mixed together. This command reads through each database and pulls out key fields, which are sorted separately. The sorted key fields contain the file pointer, byte offset, and length of corresponding records. These records are delivered by disk seeks and reads, so sortbib cannot be used in a pipeline to read standard input.
