Chapter Objectives

The objective of this chapter is to introduce the Sun Studio compiler and explain how to use it to get the best performance out of an application. The first part of the chapter discusses basic compiler options. This is followed by a section on more advanced compiler options. The chapter closes with a discussion of compiler pragmas, which are statements that you can insert into the source code to assist the compiler.
