Network intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are intended to detect network intrusions. This might sound fairly simple, but intrusion detection systems are much more complex than their description. Unlike some other security tools and techniques, they are not easy to configure and use, and it is even less easy to use them correctly and efficiently.
