OpenSSL is a free open source toolkit and library that implements Secure Sockets Layer Versions 2 and 3/Transport Layer Security Version 1 (SSLv2&v3/TLSv1) specifications. It is based on software developed by Eric Young and Tim Hudson. It also includes a general-purpose cryptographic library, which implements many encryption, public key, message digest, and authentication algorithms.
