genpass is a free random-password generator based on the librand library by Matt Blaze of AT&T. It generates random eight-character alphanumeric general-purpose passwords. Passwords generated by genpass are much more secure than passwords chosen by a human. Humans tend to choose familiar, easy-to-remember passwords. These are much more vulnerable to dictionary attacks and plain guessing than random passwords generated by genpass.
