Secure Shell (SSH)
The Secure Shell, introduced in Chapter 7,“Open Source Security Tools,” is an indispensable piece of software. It not only addresses and solves the security problems present in telnet, ftp, rlogin, and other r commands (weak authentication, risk of eavesdropping, man in the middle, replay attack, and so on), but it also adds a host of new features, such as public key cryptography-based strong authentication. Chapter 7 shows you how to compile and install an implementation of the Secure Shell protocol called OpenSSH. This section looks at the configuration of the OpenSSH server and the various client utilities available with the OpenSSH client.
