The Security Process

“Security is a process, not a product.” This statement by Bruce Schneier, an acknowledged security expert, says it all. Security is not something you can buy off the shelf. Security is not a luxury; it is a requirement. In the real world, technology alone does not give you security. It is the security process that results in security. The process includes technology, procedures, staff, and law enforcement, and makes all this work together. Security is a step-by-step process. Every step is crucial; every other step depends on the previous one. Therefore, it is important to try to get it right from the very beginning.
