Summary

This chapter looked at the technical and administrative issues involved in setting up telecommuting for SOHO LANs. Several central site and remote site network configurations were discussed. The functions of various central site components were presented. Different remote site configurations ranging from inexpensive to very expensive were explored. A major telecommuter application—video teleconferencing using Web cams and Microsoft's NetMeeting software—was presented. The chapter concluded with an examination of telecommuting administrative, business, and legal issues.
