All change starts from within. As we build teams to solve the problems of our stakeholders, we start with ourselves, recognizing that we bring skills, attitudes, and tactical emotions to the table.

When we decide to join a team that produces commercial software, we must take responsibility for managing the commitments we make. How well we do this will impact our relationships and careers, for better or worse.

If this sounds reasonable, it stands to reason that we must ensure our contributions are the strongest and most comprehensive they can be. There are a number of ways we can do this, and we will explore them here.
