PREFACE
I have to say that as a child, I did not lay awake at night dreaming of a career in Software Life Cycle Management or International Standards. Then as I reached my youth, like many of my peers in the late 60s and early 70s, I saw a future for myself as a musician and leader of the rock band I toured with while a student at university in England. Ultimately, reality took hold and after many attempts to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up, not to mention a variety of geographic locations (some of which I will be happy never to visit again), I landed in Silicon Valley, California, put down my roots in nearby Santa Cruz, just south of ‘The Valley’ then built a career in software engineering and IT systems.
