Chapter 9. General Fortress Issues

It is helpful to think of a fortress as being a certain type because the type immediately suggests specific design patterns, implementation algorithms, and appropriate technologies. Some goals are common to all fortresses, regardless of type. Four that come up repeatedly are security, scalability, reliability, and integrity. Security I have already discussed, in Chapter 7 (Guards and Walls). Here I will discuss the other general fortress topics.
