abstract component An abstract placeholder for actual user interface components that represents either tools or materials or containers or controls within a content model.

abstract prototype A prototype in the form of a content model and a navigation map.

abstract use case A superclass serving as a placeholder for shared or common sequences inherited by subcases that are specializations; may not in itself be enacted by an actual user.
