Chapter Seven. Defect Basics: Terms, Tools, Methods, and Management

Defects are the central focus point of the endgame. They are detected during development, review, and product testing. To the development and testing teams, they represent work. To managers, they represent scheduling challenges. In this chapter, I explore some background material on defects.

It’s probably best to get some definitions clear, right from the start, elaborating on the synonyms I introduced in Chapter 1:
