Summary

OpenDaylight is an SDN controller which, along with OpenStack, can provide cloud users with flexible software-defined networks. In this chapter, we described the components involved in OpenStack and OpenDaylight integration. We showed the steps involved in setting up and configuring OpenDaylight as a Neutron driver in OpenStack. We introduced Virtual Tenant Network (VTN) functionality in ODL and explored how VTN solves some important problems in cloud networking. In the following two chapters, we will cover OpenContrail, which is a popular and competing SDN technology. Similar to ODL, we will cover the architecture, OpenStack integration, and other features of OpenContrail.
