Summary

This chapter provided an introduction to ODL controller. After covering the ODL architecture in brief we showed how to install and configure an ODL controller. With the help of a simple example, we showed how ODL can manage Open vSwitch. With OVS being the most used virtual switch in OpenStack deployment, this step was important in understanding the relationship between ODL and OpenStack. In the next chapter, we will delve deeper into the ODL and OpenStack integration. In addition to Neutron integration, we will also cover ODL specific topics such as Virtual Tenant Manager.
