How This Book Is Organized

Like other For Dummies books, each chapter is self-contained and can be read in any order you’d like. However, I’ve organized the book into seven parts that can, when read in order, give you a strong understanding of social media metrics.

Part I: Metrics? What the Heck is That?

Part I introduces you to the very basics of metrics and how to understand what they can tell you. In the chapters that follow, I show you how to pump up your efforts and squeeze the most metrics juice out of your time online. By the time Part I closes, you’ll be able to navigate the metrics landscape easily.

Part II: Navigating the Measurement Jungle

After you’re familiar with the basics of metrics and measurement, I show you how to start decoding all the various clues your metrics will give you about how well your time online in being spent. Whether you want to know the demographics of people reading your blog or the income levels you reach on Facebook or Twitter, your metrics can tell you. This book makes it easy to figure out who you’re reaching online and how.

Part III: Putting Your Metrics on Steroids

After you can speak the language of metrics and know how and where you can get the most use out of the reports your metrics give you, you can dive into the deeper layers of measurement.
