Metrics for Relationships

Using location-based services to track proximity, mood applications to track the nuances of your mood and see how they affect dating and relationships for you, and motivation apps and services to get a handle on the data generated are all essential layers of tracking the metric of relationships.

Of all the cool metrics, this type is the most ethereal to gather data for. Whether you want to gather data on your moods using tools like AffectCheck (a Twitter mood measurement tool), get advice from a group of peers, download data from relationship sites to manually plug into spreadsheets and track dates and experiences with others, or something more, relationships are by nature subjective.

InMaps gives you visual representations of connections online at the business site LinkedIn (see Figure 20-16), a handy tool for monitoring data around business relationships. Morning Coach is an electronic personal evaluation system that is more in the personal, self-help category. Whichever way you decide to go with relationship data, it has application in both the business world (managing employees and clients) and personal realm.
