Finding Marketing Inspiration on YouTube

Nobody said that SMM using video was a snap to figure out. The folks at YouTube would be the first to say that we’re all still learning. To assist in this learning process, they have put together a feature called Show & Tell, which can be found at www.youtube.com/user/YTShowandTell , as shown in Figure 9-6. Here, they collect what they call “the best creative marketing examples on YouTube.”

In the spirit of Pablo Picasso, who said, “Good artists copy, great artists steal,” they provide examples that help you “steal” from the best. They divide the examples into the following categories:

check.png Interactive Video: In this category, you see hundreds of videos that engage the viewer by asking them to click the video. This breaks you out of the passive viewing mode.

check.png Brand Channels: This category shows you the very best examples of brands that own channels, as shown in Figure 9-7. Lots of creative graphics and features here can give you and your team ideas about what’s possible.

check.png Home Pages: As you’d expect, this section shows how some of the heavy hitters spend their advertising bucks to grab your attention on the YouTube home page. Disney, Warner Brothers, ...
