17. Plan Social Media Policies for Company Employees

As discussed in Chapter 16, “Everyone in Your Company Has a Stake in Your Social Media Strategy,” just one seemingly innocent post or update in a social media community can send a great strategy straight into a tailspin. Taking the time to put social media policies in place before you implement your strategy can be a saving grace to help you avoid any snafus that employees might accidently create.

Social media policies should not be iron-fisted and strict or so limiting that your employees will want to circumvent them. You must understand how social communities work to create policies that are suitable for both your marketing efforts and your employees.
