15. Be Open to Trying New Things (but Don’t Fall Off the Bleeding Edge)

New technologies are important. They help us constantly reinvent ourselves. Innovation shapes the Internet, as well as how many companies operate, and it can even lead to the evolution of an entire business model. Take Kodak, for example.

With the advent of digital cameras, technological advances in digital photography changed Kodak’s core business. The company’s primary business, manufacturing film for all types of cameras, became almost as extinct as the dinosaurs. Kodak had to reinvent itself by not only embracing these new technologies, but becoming a leader in advancing them. Film cameras might be pieces of our history, but Kodak is still part of our future.
