It is always assumed that price increases are bad news and everyone loves a price cut. Not so, as pub chain J. D. Wetherspoons found out. Facing price cuts from supermarkets on beers, J. D. Wetherspoons dropped its bar prices. Where the supermarkets had been praised for offering better value for money, the pub chain was lambasted for encouraging binge drinking!
