Ten key competencies – correctly positioned

We have already pointed out that the retained organization should be made up of the best available people, to handle its complex and pivotal role in benefits realization. But what competencies will it need?

Our experience of major deals has enabled us to identify nine crucial competencies, split between three interrelated domains controlled by one key overarching competency: sourcing strategy. These ten retained competencies are illustrated in the context of an IT organization in Figure 6.2 but they apply equally to other functional outsourcing agreements.
