Change + uncertainty = pain

Not that managing the people side of outsourcing is purely a matter of getting the message across. What is really required is an acknowledgement and recognition within the business that change brings pain, at all levels of the organization. During our fifty years’ collective experience in corporate restructuring across many cultures we have never come across a business that was totally comfortable in the face of dramatic change. Change invariably creates ambiguity and uncertainty, which many people instinctively hate. But tried and tested psychological tools, applied professionally to both individual and group communication, can help to increase the level of certainty and thereby reduce the pain.
