One of the best ways to grab a prospect’s attention is to include a reference to her company’s recent press mentions or latest activities in your message. It’s easy to have current topical information about the company delivered automatically to your computer whenever events or mentions occur by using Google Alerts.

Google Alerts are e-mail updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, and more) that are based on your choice of query or topic. In Google Alerts, enter the topic (in this case the company) you wish to monitor and then click Preview to see the types of results you’ll receive. Some other handy uses of Google Alerts include the following:
