Inserting Multimedia Files into Your SMART Notebook Pages

You can insert a number of different types of multimedia files — including video files, sound files, and Adobe Flash Player–compatible files — into your .notebook pages.

tip.eps You also can insert various media files from the Gallery tab (see the next section).

Similar to inserting pictures (see the previous section), when you insert a multimedia file into your SMART Notebook page, the media file becomes an object. You can move it, rotate it, resize it, and more (see Chapter 8).

All media files are inserted from the Insert menu. The steps are the same for all the various file types. Just choose Insert and then the type of file you want to insert. For the remainder of this section, I focus on Adobe Flash Player–compatible files.

When an Adobe Flash Player–compatible file is inserted into a page (or if the page already has the file inserted), the file plays as soon as it’s opened. You can control playback of a file. If the file has buttons, you can press the interactive whiteboard to control the settings; if the file doesn’t have buttons, use the file’s menu arrows. Table 9-2 outlines the various Flash Player controls.
