Inserting Pictures in Your SMART Notebook Pages

A picture is worth a thousand words, and that’s more true than ever in today’s rich media and interactive world. Too much small text on the computer or interactive whiteboard can be hard to read, so using a variety of media is an important part of making your presentations and lessons successful. SMART Notebook software allows you to insert pictures into your pages from a number of different resources. In this section, I walk you through your options.

Regardless of how you add a picture to your page, the picture is recognized as an object. You can move, resize, rotate, and add links to the picture, just as you can with any other object you create in SMART Notebook software (see Chapter 8).

tip.eps One of the cool things you can do is create transparent areas in the picture that you can insert into the page. This feature is very useful if you want to remove the picture’s background. You can use any color for the transparency. To create a transparent area, follow these steps:

1. Select the picture (see Chapter 8).

2. Press the drop-down arrow that appears when the picture is selected.

3. Select Set Picture Transparency.

The Picture Transparency dialog box appears.

4. Select the part of the picture that you want to be transparent.

5. Press OK.
