Program Evaluation and ReviewTechnique (PERT)

Name and Description

The program and review technique, known by the initials PERT, was first developed to assist the Navy Polaris missile program and has since been used by many industries in situations that involve extensive planning. It involves identifying all the events that must take place in sequence for a particular final event or accomplishment; estimating the time, materials, and people needed at each point of the process; and using this information to develop a comprehensive plan.
