Trust as Related to Idea Generation

The process of social facilitation allows for individuals to be stimulated by a group and at the same time to contribute to the shaping of the group’s behavior (Sisk & Williams, 1981). During the creative process, individuals do both. They influence and are influenced by others. Psychological safety (Ulloa & Adams, 2004), the belief that risk taking is safe, enters into a group member’s willingness to offer ideas and opinions that might put the person at risk of appearing foolish. Trust is a big part of this willingness.
